Passionate about music from the age of eight, and an electrical engineer by degree, Faakhir first broke out in 1992 with his band, ‘Awaz’. As a singer-lyricist-composer-producer, Faakhir has managed to garner both sales and critical respect with his four albums, ‘Aatish’ (2002), ‘Sub Tun Sohniyeh’ (2003), ‘Mantra’ (2005) and ‘Jee Chaahey’ (2011) – as a solo artist. With a career spanning over decades, he’s the proud recipient of the ‘Presidential Pride of Performance Award’, the highest reward for a musician in Pakistan, and has bagged numerous awards and accolades for his musical achievements.

Amidst his solo career, he frequently retreated from the spotlight to record original soundtracks and title tracks for various drama serials et al. This year, Faakhir Mehmood will expand his horizons by appearing on Coke Studio, Season 9 as one of the music directors and a featured artist on lead vocals.
